Below are some updates. I will periodically update this review as I find information that might be helpful to other kindle users.
- There is NO blue haze on the 8.9" HDX.
- The build quality is excellent.
- Auto contrast is good (not buggy)
- Missing Office Suite. You can view an item with Office Suite but you cannot edit the item unless you upgrade to the professional version. Hint: Use your 500 free coins to get the upgrade free.
- Operating system is very intuitive except after downloading free prime videos to watch offline. If you remove the videos from your Carousel then you must go to the side bar, from video menu, then click downloads to see your videos.
- Verify your kindle is set for the correct time zone or you might have glitches.
- Not all Prime titles are available for download.
- There is a max of 25 titles that can be downloaded free at any one time.
- Titles have a viewing period. Either 48 hours after you start watching the video, or 15-30 days. After the time period expires you need to reconnect to the internet.
- If you cannot see either your apps or any other items on the CLOUD then you probably need to RESET your device.
- Downloading videos is not available for the HD models (although Amazon's web page says it is). Maybe in the future it will be an option or amazon will correct their web page.
If you like the Kindle Fire HD then you will love the Kindle Fire HDX. The new device runs three times faster than its predecessor, is lighter in weight, and the battery lasts slightly longer. The sound quality on this device is excellent and the display quality is absolutely stunning.

The HDX has a built in OfficeSuite. On the HD the office suite had to be purchased separately ($15). REAR AND FRONT CAMERA
The HDX includes a rear facing camera with an LED flash. There is also a front facing camera. On the HD there is only a front facing camera and no flash. For those who do not know about photography, the HDX camera has a wide-aperture f-2.2 lens. That means it lets in a lot of light and gives a good Bokeh (what you focus on is sharp yet everything else blurred). Generally, the smaller the f number then the better the lens.
